Late yesterday I found out through social media that I had missed out on what should be one of my favorite days of the year, National Cheeseburger Day. That’s all I needed to hear to come up with an excuse to write about cheeseburgers on here. My friend Ian used to sometimes call them “Clint’s staple diet”, so I guess you could say I enjoy a good burger and fries every now and then.
One of my favorite places to get a cheeseburger is Zip’s Cafe in Cincinnati, OH. Zip’s is a cozy little place that can be kind of hard to get into if you go during peak hours. I haven’t been there in a while but every time I go I get a consistently fresh burger. Zip’s keeps it simple, meaning you won’t be able to order your burger with truffle sauce or fancy and expensive cheeses like at some of the newer restaurants, but there’s nothing wrong with that. They do however allow you to order a met on top of your burger, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Normally when I go I order the Double Zip burger with pepper-jack cheese and barbecue sauce with either a side of fries or their widely loved onion rings. The portions are good in that they’ll fill you up without being too huge. I highly recommend them if you’re in Cincy with the chance to go there.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to enjoy National Cheeseburger Day this year, but I’m certainly marking it on my calendar for next year.
